What Is a Tandem Skydive?

A tandem skydive pairs you with a USPA-certified or FASI-licensed instructor. Both of you wear a single harness system, share one main parachute and one reserve, and exit the aircraft together. The instructor controls the jump from start to finish — body position, parachute deployment, canopy steering, and landing — while you focus entirely on the experience.

Tandem skydiving has stricter physical requirements than most adventure sports because the harness system is rated for two people. Here are the parameters our drop zones operate under:

Bali Tandem Drop Zones: Kelating & Buleleng

Sky Dive Bali operates from two drop zones, both on Bali's quieter west and north coasts — far from the crowds of Kuta and Seminyak.

Pantai Kelating, Tabanan (West Bali)

Our primary drop zone. The flight path takes you over emerald rice terraces, coconut groves, and the Indian Ocean. Landing is on a long, empty stretch of black-sand beach — one of the few skydive landings in Asia where the parachute touches down on coastal sand instead of a grass field. Perfect for sunrise jumps from April through October.

Distance from Seminyak/Canggu: 1 hour 30 minutes by private car. Distance from Ubud: 2 hours. We recommend leaving 3 hours before your jump time to allow for traffic.

Buleleng (North Bali)

The dramatic alternative. The flight from Buleleng takes you over black volcanic-sand beaches, the Bali Sea, and views of Mount Batur and the rice terraces around Munduk. Less crowded than Tabanan, ideal for travelers staying in the north or doing a multi-day Bali itinerary that includes Lovina, Munduk, and the northern temples.

Distance from Seminyak/Canggu: 2.5–3 hours by private car. Distance from Ubud: 1.5 hours. Perfect if you're combining your skydive with North Bali exploration.

How to Get to the Drop Zone

Drop zone logistics matter more than most jumpers realize. A delayed driver or a wrong turn means missing your slot — and skydive slots are weather-locked, so they don't reschedule easily. Three options, in order of reliability:

Hotel-arranged car — Most 4-star+ hotels in Seminyak/Canggu/Ubud can book a driver for ~IDR 2,500,000. Quality varies; ask for a driver experienced with the Tabanan coastal road.
Grab/Gojek — Possible but unreliable for the return trip from rural Tabanan. Not recommended for an experience this time-sensitive.

What to Wear & Bring

Closed-toe shoes — Running shoes or sneakers. No sandals, flip-flops, or heels.
Athletic clothing — Leggings or shorts, fitted t-shirt. We provide a jumpsuit on top.
Empty pockets — Leave phones, keys, jewelry in our locker. Loose objects in the slipstream become projectiles.
Hair tied back — Long hair must be in a tight braid or bun. Loose hair in 200 km/h wind is genuinely painful.
Glasses or contacts — Both fine. We provide goggles that fit over prescription frames.
Light breakfast — Eat something small 1–2 hours before. Don't jump on an empty stomach (lightheadedness) or a full one (motion sickness).
